Hello again from home, which is lovely and snowy today after a fresh few inches of powder overnight. We're actually getting most of a proper winter this year, and I'm mighty thankful for it.
In the midst of another storm earlier this week I made a run out west to Sharon Springs, NY, to visit Helderburg Defenders. I got a go in the snow in a 90, 110, and a 130, all of which are expensive enough to buy you a mighty nice home in most parts of these United States. That was quite a thrill. Full impressions to come on those soon.
The newsletter is few hours late today as I was putting the final touches on a new video this am rather than doing my usual Sunday morning writing routine. That's now live on the channel if you care to check it out. It's some footage I captured while I was out in Japan a few months back for Nismofest, including a few of the laps I got in a NISMO R35 GTR at Fuji Speedway.
If you're more into reading and you didn't catch this before (hello, new subscribers), I wrote about the experience for Motor1 here. And just in case anyone's wondering, I did get more laps than that in the thing. Nissan was kind enough to give me another go at a slightly higher speed, but I confess I left the GoPro in the pits for that session. I wanted to just enjoy it myself. I hope you'll forgive me.
Here's what else I've been up to.
More snowy going in the iX
With its more winter-friendly tires mounted, our 2024 BMW iX continues to go strong as this winter progresses. Over the past month and change we've had the opportunity to really test this in some sub-zero temperatures, and while it understandably comes up a bit shy of its EPA rating at -8 degrees F, compared to other EVs I've lived with, it's faring quite well.
GMC Terrain review
GMC's got a new Terrain on the market, and it has something of the curbside presence of a larger SUV. GMC goes so far as to call it "truck-like" in its marketing. It definitely cuts a different silhouette than your average compact SUV, and the big new screen on the inside is a great upgrade, but sadly, GMC's most affordable machine comes up short in other areas.
That's all from yours truly. I hope you have an amazing week ahead.
